Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored securely, never in plain text). If you subscribe to a paid tier, our payment processor collects and processes your billing information directly — we do not store your full payment card details.
Location & Submission Data
If you submit a spot, report, or update, we collect the GPS coordinates, descriptions, amenity details, and any other information you choose to provide. This information is displayed publicly to other users as part of the core function of the service, unless it is removed by moderation.
Photos
Photos you upload are stored on our own servers. By uploading a photo, you confirm you have the right to share it and grant us a license to display it on the platform.
Usage & Device Data
We automatically collect certain information when you use the service, including IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and general usage patterns, for purposes including security, analytics, and service improvement.
Cookies & Advertising
We use minimal cookies necessary for the service to function, such as keeping you signed in. Our free tier is intended to be supported in part by advertising; we and our advertising partners may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads, measure ad performance, and personalize content once this is active. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings. Advertising is not currently active on RosettaMaps as of the date of this policy — this section will be updated with specific partner names once advertising is introduced.

3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Service providers who help us operate the platform (hosting, payment processing, email delivery)
- Other users, in the form of your publicly submitted contributions (spots, reports, photos), your display name, and contribution history, as inherent to the public nature of the service
- Advertising partners, for ad serving and measurement on the free tier, once active
- Law enforcement or legal process, where required by law
4. Your Choices & Rights
- You may update or correct your account information at any time
- You may delete your account, which will remove your personal account information; however, spots and reports you've contributed remain on the platform as they form part of the shared community dataset, consistent with our Terms of Use

5. Data Retention
We retain account information for as long as your account is active. Publicly submitted spot and report content is retained indefinitely as part of the platform's shared dataset, even after account deletion, as described above.
6. Children's Privacy
This service is not directed to children under 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
